A Date and a Pig

We were invited to a BBQ last weekend and was scheduled to bring fruit salad and at the last minute, as an extra, I threw together an appetizer. This appetizer was SO good, it was all gobbled up before we left the house!  What an easy appetizer this turned out to be. And as I've said before, everything's great wrapped up in bacon.

If you like the taste combination of sweet with salt, you will LOVE this dish.  Only two ingredients needed: dates and bacon!
Portuguese Roll Ups

Ingredients needed:
30 pitted dates
bacon

+ toothpicks

Slice the bacon in half, length-wise. Wrap a date with a bacon strip and secure with a toothpick. Place all on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes then turn and bake for another 8-10 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

before they go in the oven

Enjoy!

Happy Wednesday!

So, I have to tell you that I love all the Portuguese mentions! I studied aroad in Brazil while at school. I miss the people and the food!

Oh these look so good- One of my favorite restaurants makes a fig bacon wrapped appetizer and it is my favorite!
We once got a box of dates from a farm in Cali (don't remember what the name was) and they were the BEST- Do you have any recommendations for date farms?

Thank you for visiting Liz and how fun to study in Brazil! I hope to one day visit there and meet the other half of my family that I've never met:)

Lady Ren, I don't know of any date farms......have you seen any venders at the farmer's market? I just love dates also....nature's candy.

I adore the dates, fresh or pickled. I like to use dried one to make soup.
These are a great snack for a football night!

Bacon is pretty darn good wrapped around anything.
