Oh Chloe, What Now?

We've had this adorable feathered, teal colored 'tree' on one of the shelves in Paige's room, up high for decoration. One day last week Paige begged and begged me to get it down so she could play with it and use it in her doll house.

I told her, it's not really a toy, but okay, you can play with it in your doll house.

She played and played with it for a couple of hours.

Later in the afternoon, Chloe came out into the kitchen looking like this........

I didn't think she was spontaneously growing feathers and when I walked up closer to investigate, Chloe immediately rolled over on her back.

She only does this when she wants a belly scratch OR when she's done something naughty....

I didn't think she was up for a belly scratch at this point........

I do think Chloe was imaginative playing in Paige's room........about bird hunting.

Trick or Treat? Tips to Help Keep Your Pet Safe for Halloween

I'm a pet lover. I love my pup, Chloe {in the first photo below}. I love my horse, Joey. I love my ferrel cats, Dora and Diego, that live in our garage and I love ALL of our cows. I know many of you are pet lovers as well and with Halloween right around the corner, it's sometimes hard to resist dressing up our furry friends in one of those irresistable costumes you find at the pet store. But do they really like being dressed up? Probably not. So, if you do decide to dress your pet, here are some tips on how to keep your furry friend comfortable and safe on Halloween.

Be sure that its costume doesn't interfere with the pet's ability to breathe, see, hear, move, or bark.

Don't leave your pet outside unattended on Halloween (or on the days preceding or following this holiday). Halloween pranks committed against pets can be vicious, and black cats are particularly at risk.

Halloween treats are for people, not pets. Candy wrappers and lollipop sticks can be hazardous if swallowed and chocolate can be poisonous for some types of pets.

Keep pumpkins out of reach of curious noses and paws. Pets may knock over a lit pumpkin and cause a fire.

Consider keeping your pet in a separate room, away from the door, when trick-or-treaters arrive. Strange people in even stranger clothes can frighten some pets.

When you do answer the door for visitors, make sure that your pet doesn't suddenly head for the great outdoors. In case your pet does escape, make sure that it is wearing proper identification. Pets with identification are much more likely to be returned to their owners.

Cooper and Chloe's Playdate

All during last school year, I volunteered at Bryce's school on Tuesdays. Bryce's teacher/Principal, Mrs. D. has a little dog, just like Chloe but a couple of years older. I got Chloe from the same breeder Mrs. D. got Cooper from. Anyway, every Tuesday I would bring Chloe along with me so she and Cooper could have a play date for a couple of hours while I volunteered. They LOVE each other.

This year I volunteer to teach cooking a couple times a month, which is not the best situation for a doggie play date. So yesterday when I dropped Bryce off at school, I picked Cooper up and brought him home for a Chloe-Cooper play date.

Oooh was Chloe EVER SO happy. They were SO excited and moving SO fast when they first saw one another in my house the photo is blurred!

Chloe likes getting the upper hand most of the time and Cooper's such a gentlemen, he lets her.

Paige was also excited to see Cooper. This photo below is taken just 15 minutes after Cooper arrived and their tongues are already hanging out.

Finally, rest time, just before it was time to go back to school.
I don't know if Cooper is allowed on the furniture at home, but he is here. One of the great things about this breed of dog {Maltese/ShiTzu} is that they don't shed....at all.
