Pavan Cocktails for MLB Opening Day

It's spring.  It's MLB Opening Day!  It's something to celebrate in my house.  We are big time SF Giants fans and they are playing on the road this evening and I am so looking forward to it!

A while back I attended a  Pavan Liquer tasting event/contest and completely fell in love with this sweet tasting liquid you can mix with just about anything.  Here are a few of my favorites...Cheers!

Pavan Sangria

Photos and recipes courtesy Pavan

1 bottle Pavan
1 bottle Perrier®
Sliced fresh fruits
Pour Pavan into a pitcher with ice, add Perrier® sparkling water. Top with sliced fresh fruits.

Pavan Sparkling Sangria

.5 bottle Pavan
1 bottle Dry Champagne or Prosecco
1 cup pomegranate seeds Pour Pavan into pitcher or punch bowl with champagne and pomegranate seeds. Serve over ice and top with sparkling water.

But taking into consideration, the very stormy, wet, thunderous day we are having today, this Pavan Mulled Wine recipe seems more fitting....

.5 bottle Pavan
1 bottle Dry Red Wine
Fresh ginger slice
Whole cardamom
Cloves
Cinnamon stick
Orange peel
Sliced Gala Apples & Bartlett Pears

Stir together Pavan, wine, and spices. Simmer mixture on low in crockpot or stovetop until flavors settle. Add fruit. Serve warm or over ice with a splash of sparkling water.

Creamsicle Cocktail

Have you ever tasted something in your adult life that transports you right back to a childhood memory?
Cream soda has that affect on me.

I LOVED cream soda as a kid.  My Mom didn't buy it very often but when she did, it felt special.  I still remember what the blue-green Shasta cream soda cans looked like back then and the feeling of carefree happiness I had as a child on summer break.  Our family didn't take summer vacations, or any vacations, ever, but the memories I have from childhood summers are precious.

A typical day would be spent roller skating in one of our chicken house barns/playhouse and at lunch time, I would make myself and my little sister submarine sandies on a hot dog buns, package up some cheese Doritos...they had those back then, really, and a can of Shasta cream soda and picnic out on the front lawn in the warm summer sun.

Life seemed much simpler back then.

Skinny Girl {or boy} Margarita

I like Margaritas but the one thing I don't like about them is all the empty calories I consume when drinking one...or two.  Just recently my friend, Michelle, turned me on to her version of the Skinny Margarita using a throw back from the 70's.....FRESCA.

Now, I didn't drink Fresca, but my older sister did.....along with TAB....remember that one?  I didn't even know Fresca still existed, but it does.  Fresca is a citrus sparkling soda with 0 calories.....I don't like it alone but it works with tequila!

Here's what you do.....

Use your favorite 100% Agave tequila.  Slice up a lime.

Pour your desired amount of tequila over ice, add the Fresca, lime slices and I add Kosher salt into the mix as well.

I like this mix so much better than the store bought 'Skinny Girl' pre-mix margaritas.....less expensive too.

Let me know what you think!

Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to leave a comment. I love to hear from you! Have a fantastic day!

Best of the Web: Raspberry Champagne Cocktail

In this week's "Best of the Web" I am featuring this refreshing raspberry champagne cocktail from Williams Sonoma.  Wouldn't this be perfect for a Sunday brunch or even a  bridal shower?!  This recipe looked so refreshing on their website, I just had to share:)

Fresh raspberries macerated in crème de cassis and then bathed in chilled Champagne, with just a hint of grenadine for extra flavor, make this a sumptuous and eye-catching aperitif for a special meal.
