Fourth of July Cocktails

When throwing a party, one thing I try to incorporate is a signature party cocktail.  That way, along with beer wine and non-alcoholic drinks, a cocktail is available and there is no need to stock a full bar.  

Herradura's Red, White and Blue Berry cocktail  might be the ticket for your Fourth of July BBQ.  

Herradura’s Red, White and Blue Berries

Ingredients:

·         1½ oz. Herradura Silver

·         2 ½ oz. coconut water

·         ¼ oz. agave nectar

·         ½ oz. lime juice

Place all ingredients in to a cocktail shaker filled with cubed ice. Shake hard and strain over crushed ice in to a tall glass.  Garnish with raspberries and blueberries.

Bohemia Fireworks

Ingredients

·         2 strawberries

·         1.5 oz Bohemia

·         1.5 oz spiced rum

·         .5 oz simple syrup

·         ½  oz lemon 

Muddle the strawberries and add the rest of the ingredients. Shake all ingredients and pour over ice in a collins glass. Top with Bohemia beer

Patriotic Cocktail Recipes

My friends at Maestro Dobel Tequila and Three Olives Vodka are ready to help us all celebrate the 4th of July with their very patriotic cocktails to get the party started.  My favorite looking cocktails also happened to be the most brightly colored......Blue Devil-tini with tequila, Sideline Shooter and the Roman Candle.

Many times. at various parties thrown at our house throughout the year, I'll pick a theme cocktail to go along with the party and I think any one of these would be perfect for the 4th....or upcoming Labor Day as well.

Have a fun, safe and sparkly 4th of July!

Blue Devil-tini
 2 oz. Maestro Dobel Tequila
 ½ oz. Blue Curacao
 Splash Tonic
 Shake Maestro Dobel Tequila and blue curacao with ice.
 Strain into a chilled martini glass.
 Add tonic and garnish with a lemon wedge

Sideline Shooter
 1/3 oz. Three Olives Cake Vodka
 1/3 oz. Grenadine
 1/3 oz. Blue Curacao
 Layer in a shot glass!

Roman Candle
 3 oz. Three Olives Berry Vodka
 1/2 oz. Cranberry Juice
 Dash of Grenadine
 ½ oz. Blue Curacao
 Shake vodka, cranberry juice and grenadine in a shaker with ice.
 Strain into a martini glass
 Pour blue curacao gently down the side of the glass so it settles on the
bottom.
 Garnish with lemon twist

Favorite July 4th Recipes

On this day in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress, setting the 13 colonies on the road to freedom as a sovereign nation. As always, this most American of holidays will be marked by parades, fireworks and backyard barbecues across the country.

I'm baking my Mini Cherry Pies for the party I'm attending today, which is a favorite for me....easy, quick and yummy.  Here are a few other favorites I found................

Old Glory at the Farm

With strong winds coming from the west on most days at our house, our American flag is replaced once a year, due to the tattered edges it acquires.  We choose to replace it on the 4th of July.....it just seems to fit.

Every morning of the 4th of July, for the past four years, the kids and Dominic replace the flag that flies high right outside our house. The very first year, Dominic, the kids and Papa {my father-in-law} raised the actual flag pole{but I accidentally erased that pic.....and it was a good one too}.

And sometimes, after our strong winds snap the flag line and our flag becomes tangled at the top of the pole, maintenance is required.
