St. Patrick's Day Cocktail Recipes

Are you looking for something other than green beer to serve on St. Patrick's Day weekend? When I received an email from Bushmills with these fabulous looking refreshing cocktail recipes, I had to share with you all!  I'm a BIG fan of Ginger Beer, so the "Honey, I'm Home" recipe is the first to try on my list.



St. Patrick's Day Cocktails
Bushmills Irish Honey Smash:
1.5 oz of Bushmills Irish Honey
2-3 Mint Leaves
3/4 oz Simple Syrup
2 Pieces of Lemon
1 oz Water

Drink Recipe Preparation: Muddle the lemon, mint, water, and simple syrup in the bottom of a mixing glass. Add Bushmills, shake, and strain into a glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish w/ a sprig of mint and serve.





Honey, I'm Home:
1.5 oz. Bushmills Irish Honey
Lemon Wedge
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Ginger Beer

Drink Recipe Preparation: In your mixing glass, add Bushmills, bitters and ginger beer. Shake, stir and strain over ice.





Irish Old Fashioned:

1.5oz Black Bush
1/2oz simple syrup
2 dashes of orange bitters
1 orange rind

Drink Recipe Preparation. in your mixing glass, add your black bush, simple syrup, orange bitters, and stir over ice for about 30 seconds. 

When you're done, strain this into a fresh glass of ice, and garnish with an orange rind. Enjoy.

Think Green ~ How to Color your Beer Green

It's the second of March and I'm already seeing green. 

Green beer......have you ever tried to color your beer green for St. Patricks Day?  It's super easy.

Thank my lucky shamrocks

It's St. Patrick's Day and with that, brings all things green and lucky, right?!  Yesterday after my 'Hectic' day, I stopped into the gardening store to see if I could find a little something for Paige's teacher as a kind gesture for missing my appointment with her.

Look what I found!  So excited to see purple shamrocks.  I had no idea this variety even existed.  I thought it was a nice switch from the green so I bought one for Paige's teacher and one for myself.  When it comes to plants, I can't help myself....I just hope I don't kill this one off too soon.

Sometimes, a fourth leaf will grow on a shamrock. This variation is called a four-leaf clover. Because if its rarity, it is said to bring good luck to the finder, a tradition that dates back to the Celtic people.

I have found a few four leaf clovers in my life thus far and have many things to be thankful for, but on this day, I thank my lucky shamrocks for sharing today's experience with  my youngest, on her first day ever of playing soccer.
