Dog Days of Summer with Fresh Ginger Moscow Mule

Because we went from rain and 65 degrees on Sunday/Monday to 99 degrees and sweltering today, the only thing that might give some relief while hanging out with the animals at the Sonoma County Fair is this Fresh Ginger Moscow Mule by Bon Appetit......just in case you see me roaming with a sippy cup at the barn, you'll know what it contains.  Happy Friday.  Cheers!

Kaepernick Kiss

The countdown is on in my house....six more days til Super Bowl!  If you haven't already figured it out, I'm a HUGE Forty Niner fan and many of my thoughts have been gravitating towards the big game on Sunday.

I promise, after Sunday I will not write another football post until at least August.  But for now, bear with me on this.

Well you can't have your favorite team in the Super Bowl and not create a Super Bowl party cocktail, right?!

Meet the Kaepernick Kiss.

All you need is some of your favorite vodka.  Mine is Cougar Juice Vodka, made right in my home town.

What happens in Woo Hoo Ville stays in Woo Hoo Ville.

It's definitely Woo Hoo night in these parts.

Why?

Well for one:  it's Friday the13th and why not have one of my top favorite cocktails of all time......the 'Woo Hoo'

More to come next week.  But for now, here's the Woo Hoo recipe so you can enjoy your very own this weekend!

1 shot of vodka
1/2 shot of peach schnapps
1/2 shot of pink grapefruit juice
1/2 shot of cranberry juice

Shake with ice in a martini shaker and pour.  Enjoy!

BOTW: Moscow Mule {and some poison oak}

It's Friday.
It's been trying week.
It's cocktail hour in my house.

Normally I can handle almost anything thrown in my direction but coming home from my weekend away, I found my almost 7 year old had been exposed to poison oak.  Now, he's had poison oak one other time, but we realized it right away and scrubbed him up in the bath as soon as we were able to.....not the case this time.

Tip #1 when hunting with Dad:  DON'T pee in the woods!

Let's just say, something that should look like a small sausage link on a 7 year old.......should NOT look like a water balloon!

That's all I'm saying.

Now, on to this week's Best of the Web:
Moscow Mule ~ I had this drink for the first time ever in Carmel on the Farm Fresh Tour and fell in love with how refreshing it was!

BOTW: Cherry Nice ~ loaded

My Best of the Web for this week is all about the summer cocktail.  When I saw this on Williams Sonoma's website, it just screamed summer to me.....or maybe it's because we're headed out of town to one of my favorite places on earth for a little R and R.

As a matter of fact, as you're reading this, I've probably settled in and am enjoying one of these or something very similar.

A Swap Party & the Woo Woo recipe!

Last night I was invited to my friend, Devi's house for a combination Jewelry Swapping and Silpada party.
The object of a swapping party is each guest brings in pieces from their own jewelry collection that they no longer wear or are tired of and in turn receives monopoly money for each item. All items are placed out for viewing and then are auctioned off in a Live Auction using the monopoly money. It's a fun way to recycle, re-use things that you no longer want.  And this can be done with anything...purses, clothing, household items, etc.

Part of hosting a fun party, is of course, great food.  YUM!

And great cocktails.  Need to liquor-up the bidders!  My friend, Debbie TOTALLY perfected the WooWoo cocktail recipe!  So good!  I have the recipe for you below.

Hostess, Devi (left) and Kellie.

A sampling of yummy, mini cupcakes.

Love these petite glasses.

Viewing of auction items.

Bishe, who is blind and always a good sport, was modeling a set of earrings for us.

And the winner of the circa 1980, pastel, heart and angel earrings goes to Devi!!

There was a bidding war on the bracelets between Debbie and myself, but I ended up with them for one million dollars.  And I love them.

And these, Kellie bought these for me (I ran out of money) for a billion dollars or so.

This was such a fun party idea.  Everyone gets pumped up and has a TON of fun.  I think a purse swap may be next on the list :)

As promised, here is the WooWoo recipe:

1 shot of vodka
1/2 shot of peach schnapps
1/2 shot of pink grapefruit juice
1/2 shot of cranberry juice

Shake with ice in a martini shaker and pour.  Enjoy!

Happy Saturday!
