Yesterday, at around noon as I was creating a few blog posts, my server, Blogger went down. No warning, it just stopped. I thought to myself, I'm glad I just put together the next couple of days worth of posts because there's no telling when Blogger would be back up again.
Well, fast forward, 24 hours later to today. Finally at around 11 a.m., it came back up.
Within the 24 hour period of down time, I could not view my account or read and comment on any of the other Blogger blogs I frequent.
What this told me about myself is that I am most definitely obsessed with blogging. I almost didn't know what to do with myself......but then I remembered......Twitter........pathetic isn't it?!
With all this free time I had this morning, I drove with Dominic to the Hidden Pond to see the progress on the work being done there. Many truck loads full of clean dirt is being brought in to form a nice, level pad adjacent to the pond.
I see visions of camping out, fishing and picnicking in this area in the very near future:)
Oh, and to complete this Friday the 13th, Blogger LOST the three posts I had created and I just know, as soon as I recreate them again by memory, Blogger will have found them......I guess it could be worse, Blogger could have lost ALL of my posts I've created over the past year and a half.
So if you don't see a post from me in the next few days, just know, I'm patiently waiting for my posts to somehow reappear:)

i do see a lot of repeat posts coming thru my blog reader roll so i'm not sure if folks are posting their own again or blogger is restoring them. i re-posted my 2 that were deleted, but of course, all the comments are gone from them.
ReplyDeletecan you see yours there under "Edit Posts" as 'scheduled' ??
I'm such a creature of habit, and was like you in that I was a little 'lost' with blogger being down, so I did the only thing I could do--Caught up on facebook and laundry--The laundry was hardly a good substitute!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful weekend!
@Texwisgirl:Blogger re-posted mine titled 'Stopped in my tracks'.........without all the comments......so weird since that particular post had already been posted and done......lost all my wonderful comments! Now there were a few posts that I created yesterday right before this fiasco happened and they are completely gone...
ReplyDeleteSo frustrating!
Well I am really happy you are back. I, like you, missed all my Blogger blogging blogs! Ruined my whole coffee time when I usually read all my faves. I guess I'm addicted too! But again, really happy you are back Nancy!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! I was having withdrawals also!! Have a good weekend!

Right there with ya - and I really didn't have anything to say - just hated that if I did I couldn't get on to write or read!
ReplyDeleteI had already done my blogging yesterday when it went down so I didn't notice until this morning. It didn't take long then and it was back up. Had I known I am sure I would have flipped out. It is amazing how attached we become isn't it? haha....I had written anything, so I didn't lose anything. I don't think I lost comments, but who knows. Oh well, at least it's back. Have a good week-end.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly was frustrating...then I remembered that Blogger is a free service so it took the sting out of it...somewhat. I lost precious comments too. I finally got my post back. Hopefully all will be well in Blogger Land. (P.S. My son lives in Richmond ~ is a golf pro...so it's fun to see your posts of the surrounding area. Me? I'm in Michigan.)
ReplyDeleteDo you back up your blog? It's super super easy. Let me know if you don't know how and I'll teach you. I freaked out when blogger went dead but I was so thankful I have just baked up my blog.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, Great comments on the Blogger fiasco. I guess we take it for granted like so many things...when they work it's great but what a shock to find all your hard work gone and who knows if it's coming back??? I'm going to back up my blog going forward. I reconstructed my post for today and I'll just wait to see if the other stuff I lost comes back... Take care and have a nice weekend;-)
ReplyDeleteI got bored and went to the craft store and started a project. It's been approximately a year and a half since I've done something so drastic - last time it drove me to tantrums and I swore off sewing (for apparently a year and a half)
ReplyDeleteThis week was so crazy for me that I didn't even have time to blog so I have to admit that there was a part of me that was glad it was down so that I wasn't as far behind as I though I was which is its own kind of pathetic.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this post... because I had the same realization. I mean, its like a ritual everyday to do something with my blog, read others, etc. And when blogger was down my husband and I kicked it into high gear and accomplished so much!! You know. I think I might actually write a post about it to, because its kind of funny, like when the power goes out, the stuff you decide to fill your time with.
ReplyDeleteOh, and my posts reappeared about 12 hours later... hope yours do eventually!!
Cabin Fever in Vermont
@Jen, I know exactly how you feel.....in the midst of it all, I kind of enjoyed it because everyone around the world was going through the same exact thing and there were no guilty feelings:)
ReplyDeletelook forward to seeing your finished camp area! maybe you could open a one-spot camp ground. supply them a firepit, some fishing poles, bring them coffee and muffins in the morning, and boom, drive-up b&b! i'd rent it...
ReplyDeleteMine is a Wordpress blog, but it really did paralyze my blogging too. I have to admit it now. I am a blogoholic.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of a camping spot sounds good, you have a beautiful spot for sure. Perhaps open even a small private campground.
ReplyDeleteThe children grow up so quickly. Enjoy that one on one time with Paige. Soon she will be in school and might call you by her teacher's name as my daughter did. That brings home the fact that so many other people will influence her. Nancy H
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean - but I've deleted ALL my blogs and that was no small effort - I don't Twitter - I've tried that several times, don't Facebook - have found the link to DELETE my profile for good - May 20th can't come soon enuf ... and just have a few websites now.
ReplyDeleteWhat going without blogs has done for me - well it's cleared off some hard drive space - what I mean by that - I don't HAVE to chronicle my garden, dog, cats, video or still shots and I can just DO things ... :) It's really WEIRD!
God bless you
as you can see I can still comment - oh and I'm Bevy ...
