Bryce's 4-H Cooking Assignment

This year is Bryce's 1st year in 4-H.  We decided since he LOVES cooking, it would be the perfect Project for him to sign up for.  We also thought cooking would be easy enough for him to ease into
4-H to get a feel for what it's all about.

With our last cooking meeting of the season coming up, the kids were given a homework assignment to bring to the next meeting.  They were to choose a meal to prepare for their family, shop for the ingredients and cook the meal, will a full recap of the entire process to be given to the group at the 4-H cooking meeting.

Bryce chose pizza.  This surprised me, I thought for sure he would choose hamburgers.  But, pizza it is!

After a T-Ball game on Saturday, he got busy cooking dinner.

Spreading the Trader Joe's refrigerated pizza dough (they have pesto, wheat and regular) we used pesto......

Spreading some marinara sauce on the dough........

Grape tomatoes he chopped and ready to go...........

Sprinkling some low-fat mozzarella cheese........

Topping with tomatoes......

And pepperoni......

A separate vegetarian pizza with broccoli and tomatoes..........

The finished pepperoni pizza.  SO GOOD!  Good job Bryce.

I love that Bryce is participating in 4-H this year and he loves it too.  We were filling out his guided story page for his 4-H Record Book about his year in 4-H and a couple of the questions were, "What was your best part of 4-H this year?"  his answer - Everything.  "The worse part of 4-H this year was"  answer= Nothing.

It's a wonderful thing to watch your own children and friend's children grow and become confident, learn life skills, meet new people and build relationships.  Relationships to hopefully last a lifetime.  All made more easily attainable within the 4-H community.

Happy Sunday!
