This week for 'Thankful Thursday' I am absolutely grateful for my little 10 pound cow dog, Chloe.
He, of course takes one look at me, sensing my fear or something and comes right over. I know never to turn my back on a bull, especially a Holstein bull. This is where Chloe jumps into action. She senses my fear and totally takes care of the entire situation.
She goes after the bull.....Oh yes she does!
Turns him around
and moves him back through the gate to the pasture.
My freshly groomed, pink bowed, 10 pound, cow dog Chloe saves me on this day.
Chloe, you are even more cherished on this Thankful Thursday.

Okay, so she's a fluffy Maltese/Shi Tzu, but when you've been raised on a dairy farm from the young age of eight weeks, the 'cow dog' attitude just becomes who you are.
Chloe doesn't know any different. And I'm totally fine that my little fluffy 'lap dog' thinks she's a cow dog, especially in this instance ~
Just a couple of mornings ago as I'm carting a load of laundry to the laundry room I glance out the back window, only to see a herd of heifers in the back yard. When cows are in the yard, everything is dropped immediately. All I could think of was, how long have they been out there and are there now potholes the size of Texas in my lawn.
Chloe and I venture out to see if we could corral these girls on our own. To the side of the house, near the pasture gate, who is the first bovine I see? Our new resident bull, Napoleon....small but tuff {and scary to me}.

little dog w/ big attitude gets the job done!!! yay!!!
ReplyDeletewe had a poodle 7 lbs and he thought he was a cow dog too, the cows were afraid of him and he thought he was the biggest dog on the farm. just a few yaps at the cows and he had them moving, I was afraid they would turn on him but never did.
ReplyDeleteDo you always take your camera everywhere you go? Even to chase cows off your lawn.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous, I DO try to take my camera everywhere...i have three, so I typically I have one on me at all times :)
ReplyDeleteWhat happened next? I am desperate to know!
ReplyDeleteOur Maltese is the king of our jungle!
ReplyDeleteWeaver, well, Chloe then moved 15 more heifers back into the pasture and the other 10 moved behind the fence in our back yard, away from the lawn where they waited for Dominic to show up and move them ....nothing too much more exciting :)
ReplyDeleteThree cheers for Chloe--A big dog in a little dog suit!!! I didn't know that about bulls, I will remember that--THANKS!!!
ReplyDeletehahahha. Chloe rocks!
ReplyDeleteIt sure sounds like she earns her keep! What's the saying? "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the cow in the dog!" Oh, I guess not!
