It's that time of year again....time to move our natural beef cows to the 800 acres up the hill, behind Stafford Lake, where they will graze until September. They've been down on the flat pasture land since September, which is where they calve and now that all of the mamas have calved, they're moved to lush green grass that has been untouched {except by maybe some deer} and growing for them all winter long and part of spring.
The walk takes all of about 10 minutes.
They know right where to go with just a little coaxing.
Here they have reached the base of the hill......happy eating!

Beautiful pictures - cattle are so pretty when they move in a herd.
i can only imagine how good that feels - for the herd and for you to give them such great grazing land!!!

Your beef cows seem to have such a great life. It looks such a serene and peaceful place for them to live! Just curious, how long do they spend on the farm before going to "market"?
@Jessica, many of the mama beef cows have been here for years, their off spring are sold after a year and we keep a handful of them to harvest for customers once they reach 2 years old.
It is good to see that they have a wonderful life as long as they are with you. The pictures are just so peaceful and serene and I would want to have my lunch in that field too.--Inger
