Spring Break Trip to the CA Academy of Sciences

We have an annual family pass to the CA Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, so the kids and I, along with my sister, Lisa and her two kids, Jack and Morgan decided to pay them a visit one day during spring break. The latest exhibition that has opened at the Academy is 'Extreme Mammals' where we were not allowed to photograph, but if you would like to learn more and view photos of the exhibit click HERE and it will take you to the Academy's website. With Extreme Mammals: The Biggest, Smallest, and Most Amazing Mammals of All Time, the Academy explores the surprising and often extraordinary world of extinct and living mammals. There are so many things to look at and learn about at the Academy. You really need to make the trip a few times a year to take it all in. But we tried our best. Here are some beautiful jelly fish............ I couldn't get enough of the jelly fish..........
Can you tell this was my favorite exhibit?
The kids were amazed at all the fish in one tank... It's fantastic to be able to view sea life at eye level...
Then we found another jelly fish tank. I could have watched them all day!
Also loved the Sea Horse........
This guy was stationed at the entrance to greet everyone as we walked in.........
Paige asked me take her back for a second visit to the "Gorilla with the nipples" as she described him....she had to have a photo with him.
Playing with Penguins. This little guy liked to play tag with hands and feet........
Starfish....ooops, I mean Sea Star, as we were reminded by Lisa, was the correct name.....always nice to have a teacher around.
Hands on Tide Pool where sea stars, sea urchins and such could be felt and touched and examined.... Albino Alligator who didn't move a muscle while I watched him.....

Hurry up and take the picture........ Mama giraffe....... Watching sharks..... Sting Ray viewing...........

After our day ended, the kids asked it they could pick something out at the gift store to remember their day. Bryce was ecstatic about finding 'Froggy' his very firs Webkinz. When you buy a Webkinz, a code is included on the tag where you can register on-line and 'officially' adopt the pet you have bought and then create an virtual house for your pet. Paige immediately picked out the pink penguin who she named 'Penny'. Everyone is happy! Happy Friday! Cheers!
